Resistors' Role in Electronic Circuits

Writer:Microhm Page View:Date:2019-04-30
Resistors play a important part in electronic circuits, such as limit / manage the current, provides appropriate bias voltage to the active devices, works as load, provides bias stabilization in combination with capacitors and provides feedback.

An electronic circuit and an electrical circuit has the same definition, but electronic circuits tend to be low voltage circuits. An electronic circuit is a complete course of conductors through which current can travel. Circuits provide a path for current to flow. Resistors is applied to all kinds of the electronic circuits.

To be a circuit, this path must start and end at the same point. This is to say, a circuit must form a loop. Every electronic circuit requires some source of energy for its operation. The electrical energy may be supplied either in the form of a voltage or current. The electrical device which supplies the electrical energy required for the operation of an electronic circuit is known as a source.

For example, a simple circuit may only include a battery and a lamp. The circuit allows current to flow from the battery to the lamp, through the lamp, then back to the battery. Thus, the circuit forms a complete loop and make the lamp lighting. When a resistor is added, it perform its function as shunt and reduce the voltage.
