DC shunts' Key Parameters and Matters Needing Attention in Use

DC shunt is suitable for measuring DC current, directly acting on analog display instrument below 10KA. DC shunt is a kind of external shunt which is suitable for measuring DC current and directly acting on analog display instrument below 10KA. In addition, DC shunt is used to expand the measuring range of DC current. It can also be seen as standard resistors for current sampling in sequential circuits. The sampling voltage of the DC shunt can be regarded as the analog signal of the primary current used in the measurement. In the DC power supply equipment such as the DC ammeter, we often use the DC shunt. So there are some important technical parameters and precautions for the DC shunt.
First of all, we will analyze the main technical parameters of DC shunt:
1. The accuracy level of DC shunt can be divided into: 0.2, 0.5 and 1 grade.
2. For every change of 10℃ for ambient temperature, the output of the shunt does not change more than 0.25% of the standard value;
3. When 80% rated current passes through the thermal potential causing self-heating, the error does not exceed 0.25% of the standard value of the divider;
4. Operation conditions of DC shunt is as specified in Article 3.1.3 of JB/9288-1999, i.e. temperature is -40 ℃ ~ 60 ℃, relative humidity is ≤ 95% (35 ℃);
5. DC shunt overload capacity is 120% of the rated current value and lasting 2 hours;
Secondly, we should pay attention to the following points in the process of using the DC shunt:
1. No man-made contact resistance is allowed at the junction of the primary circuit electricity (or copper platen) and the DC shunt, and the selection point of the secondary voltage cannot be sampled from the non-selective point.
2.Actual current in use (long-term) is recommended not to exceed 80% of the rated current.
3. The DC shunt has the advantages of high overcurrent, accurate resistance and low temperature drift. It adopts pure copper environmental protection material, silver brazing and exquisite shape. It is widely used in DC power supply equipment such as DC ammeter.
At present, the DC shunt on the market is mainly divided into external shunt and internal shunt. There are many types of external shunt, such as FL- 2 and more. The internal shunt is also numerous, but the shape can be customized according to the customer. The shape of the internal shunt is much smaller than that of the external shunt.
