Offshore Wind Farm Inverter Failure Affects Danish Wind Farm Grid-Connected Power Supply

Frequency converters are an important part of wind power generation. Wind power systems usually contain high-precision resistors, shunts and other electronic components. The frequency converter has a very large impact on the entire wind power generation system. Efficient frequency converters can provide more power to the grid, which in turn creates resource charges.

According to developer Vattenfall, repair work requires replacement of one of the internal transformers. Vattenfall said that because the failure is more complicated than previously anticipated, it is currently impossible to estimate when the wind farm will be connected again. The wind farm has a total capacity of 160MW and has been in operation since 2002. It has installed 80 V80-2.0MW models. Vattenfall is building a 406.7 MW Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm, which has been installed more than half and is expected to be operational by the end of this year.
