Why Attach So Much Importance to AEC-Q100 for Automotive Grade Resistors?
Date:2019-02-25
A car grade resistor is an important electronic component of automobile electronic products. For many automotive resistors, it can be entered into the automobile market only when it meets the requirements of automobile electronics. Many automobile manufacturers have very strict requirements for resistors because this small resistor may affect the safety of the entire car. Car gauge resistors usually need to be certified by AEC-Q100 standard.

The AEC-Q100 standard is designed to prevent possible situations or potential failures in the product and lead the supplier to produce a gauge resistor in accordance with this specification during the development process. AEC-Q 100 confirms strictly the quality and reliability of each application case, that is, to confirm the manufacturer's product data sheet for the purpose of use, function description, etc., is consistent with the original claimed function, and can be consistent after multiple use.

First of all, the biggest goal of the AEC-Q100 standard is to improve the product yield rate, which is a great challenge for car grade resistor suppliers, regardless of the size of the product, yield rate and cost control. AEC-Q100 specifies the requirements for the IC automotive grade resistors in detail, and on the other hand, represents the requirements of the automobile manufacturers and suppliers for product safety.

This standard specifies a series of tests in detail, and defines the minimum requirements for stress test driven certification and the reference test conditions for IC certification. These tests include seven test groups: test group A ( Accelerated Environment Stress ), test group B ( Accelerated Lifetime Simulation ), test group C ( Package Assembly Integrity ),) Test Group D ( Die Fabrication Reliability ), Test Group E ( Electrical Verification ), Test Group F ( Defect Screening ), and Test Group G ( Cavity Package Integrity ).

In addition, in order to meet the high standards of working temperature, durability and reliability of automotive electronic products, component suppliers must adopt more advanced technology and more rigorous test procedures to achieve optimal design methods. Therefore, AEC-Q100 can be divided into different grades, in which the working temperature range of the first stage standard is -40 ℃ to 125 ℃, and the strictest grade 0 standard temperature range is -40 ℃ to 150 ℃.
