Precision Shunt is the Core of Battery Management System

Battery management system (BMS) is an important part of electric vehicle. The excellent BMS system can improve the capability of new energy vehicle. At present, battery management system is an important part of power vehicle competition. Tesla battery management system is one of the best designs in the industry. In a battery management system, estimation of battery status in electric trams is usually used to estimate how much power SOC,SOP and SOH.SOP are used to indicate how much battery is left in an electric vehicle, so SOC is the most important parameter in BMS. The rest of the battery management system is based on SOC, so its accuracy and error-correcting ability are extremely important. Without accurate SOC, no amount of protection can make BMS work properly. As power battery would be often protected, let alone prolong the life of the battery.

On the other hand, the accurate estimation of SOP can maximize the efficiency of the battery. For example, when braking, the energy of the feedback can be absorbed as much as possible without damaging the battery. The same goes for acceleration.It also ensures that the car does not lose power during driving due to underpressure or overcurrent protection even when the SOC is very low.

Although SOP and SOC are very important to the battery management system, the use of precision shunt is the most important for battery detection. The precise shunt measures the voltage, current and temperature of the core, as well as the voltage of the battery pack. These signals are then transmitted to the operation module for processing and issuing instructions. These instructions are displayed through the control module's hardware, basic software, runtime environment (RTE) and application software.

For the battery management system, without the precise shunt to measure the voltage, current and temperature of the core and the voltage of the battery pack, the SOP and SOC of the power train can not obtain the most accurate data. At present, many manufacturers of battery management system have very high requirements on precision, temperature drift and efficiency of precision shunt.  The battery management system adopting high-end precision shunt makes electric vehicles have better competitive advantage in the market.
