Offshore Wind Farm Inverter Failure Affects Danish Wind Farm Grid-Connected Power Supply
Date:2018-11-28
Frequency converters are an important part of wind power generation. Wind power systems usually contain high-precision resistors, shunts and other electronic components. The frequency converter has a very large impact on the entire wind power generation system. Efficient frequency converters can provide more power to the grid, which in turn creates resource charges.

Recently, according to the relevant website, the fault of the inverter in the offshore wind farm in Denmark caused the entire power grid to fail to generate electricity.

According to developer Vattenfall, repair work requires replacement of one of the internal transformers. While continuing to analyze transformer problems, developers are also trying to find other solutions. The local government has been informed of the failure and no power users have been affected by the failure. Vattenfall said that because the failure is more complicated than previously anticipated, it is currently impossible to estimate when the wind farm will be connected again. The wind farm has a total capacity of 160MW and has been in operation since 2002. It has installed 80 V80-2.0MW models. Vattenfall is building a 406.7 MW Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm, which has been installed more than half and is expected to be operational by the end of this year.

From this fault, it can be seen that the frequency converter has influence in the wind power generation system. In the wind power generation system, the design of the frequency converter, the resistor, the shunt, etc. will affect the normal operation of the whole system. In many new wind power projects in many countries, we attach great importance to the latest R&D technology investment in practical production, and the purchase of precision resistors to produce new wind turbines to provide more clean energy for the country.
